I was born and raised in La Palma, California and received my B.A. and M.A from California State University, Long Beach. I received my Ph.D. in social psychology from Texas A&M University in 2015 under the advisement of Brandon Schmeichel. Currently, I am a post-doctoral fellow at Northwestern University.
My research program is focused on self-regulation which refers to the conscious and non-conscious processes that enable individuals to guide their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in a purposeful manner. In particular, I focus on the ways in which personality, neural processes, and cognitive mindsets influence the emotional and cognitive processes underlying goal pursuit and well-being.
